Town of Oyster Bay launches downtown projects
Briefly

The Town of Oyster Bay is set to enhance Hicksville's downtown with a $13.6 million revitalization project. Scheduled to begin on May 3, the initiative involves closing two commuter parking lots, creating Festival Plaza, and transforming a parking area into green space. Additionally, four nearby properties will be obtained through eminent domain for new parking facilities. Funded partially by a $10 million New York State grant, the project aims to create a vibrant business district and improve commutes for residents.
New York State awarded the Town of Oyster Bay $10 million to revitalize Hicksville as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
The work includes a new pedestrian path to the station, to be called Festival Plaza; converting a parking lot next to the station into green space.
With many public and private investments, the Hicksville business district will transform into a vibrant downtown with something for everyone.
The price tag for the revitalization has risen to $13.6 million since the state first announced the grant funding in 2017.
