Green Bay's Gottlieb taking break from radio show
""As of now, we're going to take a break from it," Gottlieb said in his news conference after Green Bay's 67-64 victory over UC Santa Barbara. "I've got to have a life. I've got to be there for these kids. I've got to really dig in because we're building something cool here.""
""a hard one on one level for me, but a smart one.""
""I don't think that's what I want to do as a coach," Gottlieb said."
Doug Gottlieb will step away from his national sports talk radio show to focus fully on coaching Green Bay's college basketball program. He plans to end the radio show at the end of this week or next week while continuing a podcast. Gottlieb emphasized the need to be present for his players and to invest more time into building the program. Green Bay hired him in May 2024 despite no prior college coaching experience and initially allowed him to keep the radio role. A recent scheduling conflict forced him to fly separately from the team bus. Green Bay went 4-28 in his first season and is 6-7 this year, with five wins in the last seven games.
