Thunder finish loss to Pistons with top 6 scorers out hurt
"We obviously had the wind in our faces a little out there tonight. I thought it was a really good effort by the guys who played to gut that one out. The game got away from us a little bit in the third, and it looked like it was going to be a runaway, but our guys did a great job of getting back into it."
"He showed great toughness and, obviously, great offense. We really flowed through him, and against a team that really pressures like Detroit, he was a great help for us."
The Detroit Pistons, leading the Eastern Conference, defeated the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder 124-116 on Wednesday night. The Thunder were severely undermanned, starting without their four leading scorers and sixth-leading scorer due to injuries. Only Isaiah Joe from the top six played initially, alongside regular starter Lu Dort. Detroit dominated the second quarter with a 36-18 scoring run and led 92-75 late in the third. Oklahoma City mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, getting within three points, but couldn't overcome the deficit. Jaylin Williams emerged as Oklahoma City's star, scoring a career-high 30 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, demonstrating toughness and offensive production despite the team's injury challenges.
