"Years ago, back when playing in the NFL was just a childhood dream, Christian and Jonah Elliss would spend time in their parents' basement recreating their favorite big hits they saw during games. Christian is five years older than Jonah, so he had the upper hand back then. 'We would be like, 'All right, we're going to do this one now,' and I would run into him and he would lay me out,' Jonah said."
"A loving and kind big brother, but also fearless with a bit of a mischievous streak. 'Always willing to test the parameters of rules, if you will,' Luther said. 'Checking the boundaries. Not afraid of anything.' Jonah, on the other hand, was animated and energetic, climbing on things, making funny faces, and trying to keep up with his older brothers."
Christian and Jonah Elliss grew up reenacting big hits in their parents' basement, with Christian five years older and often having the upper hand. Jonah remembers those hits as core memories from a young age. Their father, two-time Pro Bowl lineman Luther Elliss, described Christian as a daredevil and a loving, mischievous big brother, while Jonah was animated and energetic. The Elliss family includes 12 children—five biological and seven adopted—with eight boys and four girls ages 14 to 29. Three brothers currently play linebacker in the NFL: Kaden (Falcons), Christian (Patriots), and Jonah (Broncos). Christian and Jonah face each other in the AFC Championship, with the winner advancing to the Super Bowl.
