Mike Grier is the general manager of the NHL's San Jose Sharks. Chris Grier was a scout for the Patriots under his father before joining the Dolphins in 2000, initially as a scout before rising through the ranks, eventually to GM in 2016."
Bobby Grier, 82, had a long NFL career after beginning as a high school coach and college assistant. He entered the NFL in 1981 with the New England Patriots, alternating between leading the backfield and scouting before moving to the front office in 1993 under Bill Parcells. He served as director of pro scouting, director of player personnel in 1995, and vice president of player personnel in 1997. Grier left New England in 2000, remaining through the draft that selected Tom Brady. He later worked for the Houston Texans (2000–2016) and as a Dolphins consultant (2017–2025). He was the father of Dolphins GM Chris Grier and Sharks GM Mike Grier. The Miami Dolphins issued condolences.
