At Allegiant Stadium the Raiders lost 20-9 to the Los Angeles Chargers as Geno Smith threw three interceptions. Smith finished 24-for-43 for 180 yards with a 37.0 passer rating. Each interception followed an aggressive attempt into tight coverage: the opening pass to Tre Tucker was tipped by Alohi Gilman and intercepted by Daiyan Henley; a two-minute-drive throw to Dont'e Thornton Jr. was tipped and picked off by Tony Jefferson; and a third-and-15 pass to Jakobi Meyers was deflected by Derwin James and intercepted by Donte Jackson. Coach Pete Carroll questioned those choices and Smith said he must learn and improve.
