'We were fed up': Panthers' defense comes alive in 30-0 shutout of Falcons
"This was what we've been waiting for coming out of camp,"
"I feel this is how we executed coming out of camp, the physicality we had during camp. So to be able to come out and put it on display and get the result we got, we're happy about it.'"
The Carolina Panthers invested more than $230 million in free agency and the draft to overhaul a defense that ranked last in 2024. The team started 0-2 and allowed 53 points over two games, drawing criticism for defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and head coach Dave Canales after Canales promised a physically imposing team. On Sunday the Panthers shut out the Atlanta Falcons 30-0, their first shutout since 2020 and most lopsided since 2015. The defense dominated at Bank of America Stadium while allowing 333 yards to the Falcons, and the team’s points-allowed average fell toward 17.6 per game.
