"The fake fog from the nautical-themed pre-game spectacle had barely lifted by the time the B's found themselves by a goal. Just 11 seconds into the game, Brandon Hagel beat Jeremy Swayman over the blocker for the quick 1-0 Lightning lead and the 64,617 in attendance erupted. It was their last opportunity to cheer for the rest of the period."
"At that point, the equalizer felt inevitable, and it came at 11:50 on a Nikita Kucherov one-timer from thee left circle. In OT, Pastrnak thought he'd scored the game-winner when his slapper beat Andrei Vasilevskiy but he had been called for slashing, only no one had heard the whistle. The B's were able to kill it and then Swayman stopped Kucherov on a clean breakaway with 28.9 seconds left in OT."
The game featured a goalie fight between Andrei Vasilevskiy and Jeremy Swayman, heavy physicality and numerous penalties, many on Boston. Boston built a 5-1 lead early in the second period. Tampa Bay responded with three consecutive power-play goals, including two on 5-on-3 advantages, and Nikita Kucherov tied the game at 11:50 of the second on a one-timer. In overtime, David Pastrnak’s slapper beat Vasilevskiy but a slashing penalty negated the goal; Boston killed the penalty and Swayman stopped a late Kucherov breakaway. The game went to a shootout, where Jake Guentzel’s goal and Vasilevskiy’s stop on Pastrnak decided a 6-5 Lightning win.
