Caps, dealing with illness and injuries, look to rebound against Maple Leafs
"a bunch of things working through injury-wise, personal, so it'll be a true game-time decision for a lot of things going on."
"You read little snippets about what's going on [in Toronto] and then you look at their record in their last 10, and you're like, what's going on here? They're 6-2-2 in their last 10,"
"significant step,"
Hendrix Lapierre and Matt Roy did not skate Thursday morning, leaving lineup questions. Multiple injuries and personal matters make several game-time decisions. The Capitals have enough bodies for an 18-skater lineup but may not have enough healthy forwards as an illness affects the dressing room, possibly requiring 11 forwards and seven defensemen. Washington recently lost 6-1 at Winnipeg and 5-0 at Minnesota. The Capitals beat Toronto in late November, but have since cooled while the Maple Leafs have gone 6-2-2 in their last 10. Ryan Leonard, out since Dec. 5 with a shoulder injury, skated in a noncontact jersey.
