Patriots, QB Tommy DeVito agree to 2-year, $7.4M deal, agent says
"I think that's a tough proposition to have, coming in at the end of training camp and trying to get acclimated offensively. So to his credit, he's done a really nice job. DeVito spent additional time each Monday working with some of the team's younger receivers, especially those on the practice squad."
"DeVito, 27, joined the Patriots late last August when he was claimed on waivers from the New York Giants. As a restricted free agent this offseason, the Patriots could have tendered DeVito an offer at either the right of first refusal ($3.52 million), second-round level ($5.7 million) or first-round level ($8 million). Instead, the sides worked out the two-year deal."
The New England Patriots signed restricted free-agent quarterback Tommy DeVito to a two-year deal valued at $7.4 million with $2 million guaranteed. DeVito served as the Patriots' third-string quarterback in 2025 behind starter Drake Maye and backup Joshua Dobbs. The 27-year-old was claimed on waivers from the New York Giants in August 2024. Rather than using a restricted free-agent tender, the Patriots negotiated the two-year contract, with a base value of $4.4 million. DeVito did not play in games but impressed coaching staff with his learning of the offense and mentoring of younger receivers during practice.
