President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Andrew Cuomo in the New York mayoral race and warned he would withhold federal funds if Zohran Mamdani won. Trump labeled Mamdani a communist and said a Mamdani victory would make it hard to send significant federal money to the city. RealClearPolitics polling showed Mamdani leading with 46.1 percent, Cuomo at 31.8 percent, and Curtis Sliwa at 16.3 percent as polls opened. Trump posted on Truth Social urging votes for Cuomo and warning that a vote for Sliwa would effectively be a vote for Mamdani. Trump had made similar remarks during a CBS 60 Minutes interview.
