Man arrested after ramming car into Chabad HQ in Brooklyn, no injuries reported: NYPD
"Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD has significantly increased security around houses of worship throughout all five boroughs,"
"You will see an enhanced uniformed presence, specialized patrols, counterterrorism resources and bomb-squad deployments where appropriate."
"This is deeply alarming, especially given the deep meaning and the history of the institution to so many in New York and around the world."
Around 8:45 p.m., a vehicle struck the rear door of the Chabad-Lubavitch world headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, then reversed and struck the door again. NYPD officers on a detail at the building ordered the driver out and arrested him. The bomb squad swept the vehicle and found no explosive devices. No injuries were reported. The incident is being investigated by the NYPD hate crimes task force. Officials significantly increased security around houses of worship citywide. The suspect’s identity was not released and he was awaiting charges the following morning.
