"Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while responding to a large warehouse fire that broke out in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn on Wednesday night, September 17, according to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). The FDNY said that over 250 firefighters and emergency services personnel responded to a 5-alarm fire at a four-story commercial warehouse on Van Brunt Street. Upon arrival, crews found fire throughout the second, third, fourth floors, and rising up through the roof, said Chief of Operations Kevin Woods."
"Due to the amount of fire and the structural stability of the building, we removed our members and attacked the fire from the exterior, from the front and the rear with large caliber streams. The rear of this building is on the water, so we called in Marine 9, and we used some of their large caliber streams to extinguish the fire,"
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while responding to a five-alarm warehouse fire that ignited in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn on the night of September 17. Over 250 firefighters and emergency services personnel responded to the blaze at a four-story commercial warehouse on Van Brunt Street. Crews found fire throughout the second, third and fourth floors and rising through the roof. Due to the volume of fire and concerns about structural stability, crews were withdrawn and the fire was attacked from the exterior, from both front and rear, using large-caliber streams. Marine 9 was deployed to apply water from the waterfront. Department footage shows firefighters battling the blaze.
