Nick Sirianni confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles traded for cornerback Jakorian Bennett due to his impressive speed, coverage skills, and special teams value. The 24-year-old, a fourth-round pick from the 2023 draft, is set to compete against other cornerbacks on the roster. Sirianni expressed excitement over Bennett's potential, stating they appreciated his performance with the Raiders. The Eagles also maintain confidence in their defensive tackle lineup, wishing the departing Thomas Booker well. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio remarked on the competitive camp between cornerbacks Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo.
"We liked his tape when he was with the Raiders," explained Sirianni. "We're excited to have him."
"We thought that was an opportunity to add some depth at corner," added Sirianni. "We'll miss Booker and wish him the best."
Eagles defensive co-ordinator Vic Fangio says the competition between frontrunners Jackson and Ringo to start opposite Mitchell is "close".
"Both of them are having a good camp," Fangio observed on Monday, speaking during the Eagles' pre-season camp at their NovaCare Complex base.
