Xavier McKinney, an All-Pro first-team safety for the Green Bay Packers, is at risk of missing the remainder of training camp and preseason games due to a calf injury. After not practicing on Thursday following a Wednesday practice, McKinney emphasized his intention to be prepared for the regular-season opener on September 7. The injury was noted as persistent, and he joins cornerback Nate Hobbs on the injury list, impacting the Packers' secondary. Other players also missed practice due to injuries ahead of their preseason opener against the New York Jets.
"It was just something like just lingering a little bit over time and that's really all it really was," McKinney said, pondering the impact of his injury.
"Obviously glad that we caught it when we caught it so just kinda trying to take it slow and then the build up obviously," McKinney expressed after missing practice.
