A 16-year-old sophomore from Springfield Gardens allegedly posted a threat to "shoot the school up" on Instagram and was charged with multiple weapons and terroristic threat offenses. Meta notified the FBI, which traced the Instagram account IP address to Benjamin Cardozo High School. Police matched a phone number to the defendant, located him on campus with a backpack and a cell phone, and placed a call that appeared on the device. Officers searched the backpack and recovered a black Taurus GX4 9mm pistol loaded with a magazine containing 11 9mm rounds of ammunition and a magazine extender. The defendant was arraigned and faces potential prison time if convicted.
