2024-2025 Jacob Trouba report card - Blue Seat Blogs
Briefly

Jacob Trouba played 24 games for the Rangers in the 2024-2025 season before being traded to Anaheim. Despite only recording six assists, his play was effective, particularly when teamed with Braden Schneider, forming a shutdown pair with encouraging statistics. Unfortunately, his overall performance declined primarily due to coaching decisions that disrupted optimal pairings. Additionally, personal circumstances and the fallout from a failed trade diminished his leadership role within the team, ultimately impacting his contributions and desire to remain as captain during his final games with the Rangers.
Trouba's overall play actually started off pretty nicely. He and Braden Schneider formed a solid second pair while K'Andre Miller and Adam Fox were wonderful as a top pair.
The Schneider-Trouba pairing was good, with solid statistics including a 52% shot share, 59% xG share, and 56% high-danger shot share.
Trouba's overall numbers were not good for the rest of his tenure, mostly because Peter Laviolette shoehorned Ryan Lindgren back into the lineup.
The failed trade with Detroit and subsequent trade memo clearly impacted Trouba's role as captain, affecting the locker room dynamics.
