Madyson Miller, who grew up in Florida with a love for marine life, initially struggled academically but found her passion for biology through lab work. She ventured into various ecological studies but sought more impact beyond science alone. This led her to policy work, advocating for youth perspectives on ocean legislation with the United Nations and eventually taking a role at NOAA as a program analyst, where she now influences international ocean sustainability efforts.
"I was a terrible test-taker, and my first year my grades just were not great. I really thought, like, I'm not going to be able to do this."
"It felt very much one-dimensional, like I was just doing science. So she started looking for opportunities in policy, where she could shape species management and impact larger decisions."
