FloridaCommerce is spearheading an initiative to enhance the state's communications networks by developing a workforce skilled in broadband technologies. Through collaborations with local colleges, including Miami Dade College, Florida aims to provide training programs for technicians specializing in Telecommunications and Fiber Optics. This initiative is part of a broader economic strategy supported by substantial budget investments to enhance workforce education, promising Floridians better access to job opportunities, educational resources, and essential services like telemedicine.
In partnering with Florida's state and technical colleges-including Miami Dade College, the Florida Department of Education, CareerSource Florida, Local Workforce Development Boards, the REACH Office, and other public and private sector stakeholders, we are building the workforce needed to support Florida's broadband industry.
Florida is leading the nation in talent development because our colleges continue to adapt their programs to meet workforce needs. Through this new program, students in the Miami area will be able to access high-demand jobs in the broadband industry.
