""From our very inception, Indigo Arts Alliance was envisioned as a legacy organisation that would serve as a model of community engagement for the arts with a specific focus on amplifying Black and Brown creativity.""
""Our property ownership secures our legacy and ensures that our long-term commitment to serve local, regional and global artists of colour can exist for generations to come.""
Indigo Arts Alliance (IAA), a non-profit artist residency in Portland, Maine, has officially purchased the 8,000 sq. ft. building it had rented since 2018. Designed by co-founders Daniel and Marcia Minter, the space includes artist studios, offices, and exhibition areas to support Black and Brown artists. Fundraising efforts over the last year and a half enabled this significant acquisition, marking a commitment to the long-term sustainability of IAA. Executive Director Jordia Benjamin emphasized that ownership secures their legacy and commitment to serving artists of color amid rising local real estate demand.
