Nudity is a natural part of life, and children often view it without judgment. Both Wijesekera and Patel indicate that how parents manage nudity impacts children's body image. A casual approach can nurture a positive relationship with their bodies. Brown supports the notion that body positivity can thrive through either nudity or clothing. Ultimately, a child’s understanding of body image is influenced by their parents’ self-acceptance and self-love, considering age and maturity in these lessons as well.
"When nudity is handled casually and comfortably at home, it can actually help kids develop a healthy, shame-free relationship with their own bodies," Wijesekera said.
"As much as I'm a fan of body positivity, I believe it can be accomplished naked or clothed," said Adolph Brown, a clinical psychologist and parenting expert on ABC's The Parent Test.
