Kamel Mennour, a prominent French gallerist, has donated 180 artworks from 45 artists to the Musée d'art moderne in Paris. This donation reflects the diversity and influence of his gallery's program since its establishment in 1999. Inspired by similar contributions from other dealers, Mennour decided to give back to the museum that had greatly inspired him throughout his life. He notably emphasizes his intention to keep the gallery's focus local while shaping a significant artistic legacy through this generous act.
"Together, these artists reflect the diversity, vision and influence that have defined the gallery's programme since its founding," the statement said.
"Last autumn, we were celebrating the gallery's 25th anniversary and the idea took shape," he says.
"I thought it would make sense to give something back to the museum, which has offered me and my city such great joys."
"I wanted to stay close to my family," Mennour explains, emphasizing his decision to focus solely on Paris.
