Husband and wife clean Los Gatos Creek Trail on daily walks
Briefly

Sue and Darrell Kupka, a couple in their 60s and 70s, have been collecting trash along the Los Gatos Creek Trail during their daily walks for about 18 months. Their initiative began as a New Year's resolution to exercise daily, but it evolved into a community effort to clean up the trail. They have found various items, including helmets and clothes, and have made efforts to return IDs to their owners while donating unclaimed items to Goodwill. Their actions reflect a commitment to environmental responsibility and have garnered support from fellow walkers.
The cleanups started after the Kupkas made a New Year's resolution to walk every day. They saw a lot of trash on the trail and thought that they "might as well pick it up" and help those who oversee the parks and trails.
The couple credited their environmental streak to backpacking and camping campaigns that encouraged people to not litter in natural environments. They echoed Woodsy Owl's motto, "Give a hoot, don't pollute," and "pack it in, pack it out."
