Pensioners called nurse a slave' and told their dog to kill her in racist assault
"The reaction was very hostile, (Michael Bairstow was) telling me to go back to your dinghy' and making swimming gestures with his arms towards me. I said I was a healthcare worker. The female was calling me a stupid bitch."
"When I tried to walk away the female pulled me back by my ponytail causing my head to go backwards. They were very racist towards me, they seemed to want to make everything a conversation about immigrants and calling me a slave."
"Michael Bairstow told his dog to get her, kill, and threw a bottle of water towards Ms Moorhouse, splashing her, while saying: Ban immigrants."
Fyona Bairstow, 72, and Michael Bairstow, 77, accosted NHS nurse Apple Moorhouse in Manor Heath Park, Halifax, in August following a dispute over their unleashed dog. Michael Bairstow made racist remarks telling Moorhouse to return to her dinghy while making swimming gestures, and threw water at her while shouting anti-immigrant statements. Fyona Bairstow pulled Moorhouse's ponytail as she attempted to leave. Michael Bairstow also assaulted a second woman who intervened. Both defendants admitted racially aggravated assault at Bradford Magistrates' Court. Moorhouse, a British citizen from the Philippines living in the UK for over 15 years, did not return to work following the incident and experienced significant anxiety and fear.
