Anzio Laneway House / Imu Chan Architecture
"On a hillside laneway stands a white monolith, sharply defined amidst the neighbouring stucco homes. It takes on the form of a simple house but wears an industrial, utilitarian exterior. It is monochromatic and almost austere; a window folds at the eave, reaching toward the roof ridge. The large glazing steals the colour hues of the sky like a chameleon."

A white monolithic residence occupies a hillside laneway, standing in stark contrast to neighbouring stucco homes. The building retains a simple house form while adopting an industrial, utilitarian exterior and a monochromatic, austere presence. A folded window at the eave reaches toward the roof ridge, creating a pronounced geometric gesture. Large glazed surfaces capture and reflect the sky’s colours, allowing the facade to shift chromatically like a chameleon. The composition balances domestic scale with minimalist, object-like clarity, emphasizing material restraint and formal precision within the streetscape.
