Portland's food and beverage scene experienced several closures in early 2024. Elephants Delicatessen's Northwest 22nd location closed temporarily following a March 10 fire with no injuries reported, though six other locations remain open. República, a celebrated Pearl District restaurant known for Mexico-forward tasting menus, held its final service on March 8 after owner Angel Medina announced the closure in January. The Shaku Bar in Laurelhurst announced its lease expires in June and the establishment is for sale. Nico's Ice Cream shuttered its Portland-area locations, with the owner promising future announcements. Suul Suul Korean Street Food also relocated from its Northeast Broadway location.
