"These rules have been in place for more than two years and wagering providers should be taking their responsibilities seriously." She continued to explain how people who self-exclude themselves from online and telephone gambling trust that the system can protect them from gambling harm."
ACMA investigations found Tabcorp, LightningBet, Betfocus, TempleBet, Picklebet and BetChamps failed to comply with BetStop National Self‑Exclusion Register rules. Breaches included allowing registered self‑excluded individuals to open wagering accounts, access online and telephone wagering services, and receiving marketing. Investigations identified inadequate underlying systems and processes that did not operate as intended and failed to identify and protect self‑excluded people. The national self‑exclusion register aims to help people avoid gambling and stop gambling, and effective protections require wagering providers to maintain identification, blocking and marketing controls that have been required for more than two years.
