Palestinian children, including two girls and a boy, arrived for medical treatment at San Francisco International Airport after suffering injuries from the Israel-Hamas war. They were welcomed by volunteers who supported them with cheers and supplies. The arrival is part of a project to evacuate injured children to the U.S., organized by the nonprofit HEAL Palestine. Many of the children face malnourishment and other health issues due to the effects of the conflict. Over the last year and a half, 63 injured Palestinian children have been brought to the U.S. for treatment.
They rode on top of suitcases and in wheelchairs, holding up peace signs, as they exited the arrivals terminal at San Francisco International Airport and walked through rows of volunteers waving Palestinian flags and holding kaffiyehs.
The girls, 6 and 14, and a boy, 8, who arrived Tuesday in the Bay Area, were brought to the region in order to receive medical treatment for injuries they suffered in the Israel-Hamas war.
They're coming from very traumatic circumstances there. They're coming with malnourishment. They're coming with anemia. They're coming with a lot of other physical issues as a result of the conditions on the ground, which are imposed by the Israeli army.
Over the past year and a half, HEAL Palestine has brought 63 injured Palestinian children to receive treatment in the United States.
