""All of which are indicative of the conversations we've had with local residents about their needs and priorities as it relates to the future development of the neighborhood, and especially the equitable development of our neighborhood, going forward,""
Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice seeks public feedback through Oct. 20 on transforming dozens of empty or underused lots along the Bronx River within a 56-acre Southern Boulevard Brownfield Opportunity Area. The initiative, produced in collaboration with New York's Department of State under a brownfields program, addresses sites with known or suspected contamination and examines more than 100 properties. Recommendations include affordable housing, arts and cultural programming, improved streetscapes, green jobs, and climate resiliency measures. The study considers existing property conditions and nearby regional plans, including efforts to reimagine the Cross Bronx Expressway.
