Briefly

Catherine Shu reflects on her unique journey from New York to Taipei, prompted by her boyfriend Ron's job offer. The low cost of living in Taipei allowed them to explore the city together. Over 18 years, although she initially struggled with her Mandarin and cultural identity, Shu embraced her life in Taiwan. This journey transformed her perception of home and self, blending her American roots with her Taiwanese heritage and ultimately redefining her identity in a new context.

Despite my fears about language barriers and cultural differences, living in Taipei has been an enriching journey, allowing me to finally connect with my Taiwanese side.
