Sabastian Sawe made history at the London Marathon by running a sub-two-hour marathon, finishing in 1:59:30. This time surpassed the previous record of 2:00:35 set by Kelvin Kiptum in 2023. Sawe's performance included a strong second half, where he accelerated before the final 10km. Yomif Kejelcha finished second in 1:59:41, becoming the second man to run under two hours in race conditions. Jacob Kiplimo completed the podium in 2:00:28. In the women's race, Tigst Assefa set a new world record for a women-only field at 2:15:41.
