Ukraine war briefing: Kyiv deploys 200 anti-drone experts to Middle East
"These are military experts, experts who know how to help, how to defend against Shahed drones. Our teams are already in the Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and on the way to Kuwait. European nations should prepare for attacks by criminal networks, terror groups and lone attackers as drone technology advances."
"Ukraine remains Europe's top security priority and attention for Ukraine will not be allowed to fizzle out. If we just go back to business as usual, we will have more of this—more wars. We have seen this before, so we have to be very vigilant and not to actually give Russia what they want because their appetite will only grow."
"The Iranian war was bad for Ukraine, mainly because of the oil price which feeds the Russian war machinery. The Russian economy was actually doing extremely badly a couple of weeks back. Now it's bouncing back."
Ukraine has stationed 201 military experts specializing in anti-drone defense across the Middle East, with 34 additional personnel ready for deployment to the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. President Zelenskyy warned British MPs that drone technology advancement poses security threats to Europe from criminal networks, terror groups, and lone attackers, no longer limited to state actors. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas cautioned that Russia benefits from elevated energy prices and the diversion of air defense systems from Ukraine to the Middle East. She reaffirmed Ukraine remains Europe's primary security priority and rejected proposals to normalize relations with Russia. Finland's president noted the Middle East conflict negatively impacts Ukraine through rising oil prices that strengthen Russia's economy.
