Ukrainian forces are increasingly employing ground robots for critical tasks such as rescuing injured personnel and attacking enemy positions, significantly reducing the risks to soldiers. However, the use of uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) as a means of evacuation is limited to last-resort situations due to potential dangers posed to the wounded. Oleksandr Yabchanka from the Da Vinci Wolves Battalion explains that while advancements in drone technology are ongoing, challenges remain that impact the reliability and effectiveness of these systems in combat scenarios, necessitating careful consideration before deployment.
When a team of soldiers rushes out to evacuate the wounded, they are always in danger because of the 'ginormous number of intelligence drones' in the sky.
Despite the advantages technology brings, Yabchanka said that they 'do not often use robot-based evacuation,' highlighting both the potential and the drawbacks of UGVs.
