Sushi Easy - affordable sushi in the Mission
"Sushi Easy was opened by former employees of We Be, so the spirit lives on. They've dolled up the place, too, adding whimsical wall décor of nigiri and sashimi so that visions of fresh fish dance above your head."
"This crustacean looks small (well, it was) but it packed a huge amount of flavor and crabby juiciness. The morsel came bare, however, and we asked for a side of ponzu sauce. Excellent, if a bit undersized for two."
"The Shari Sashimi platter had its charms, as you can add as much or as little of the crab salad or rice to suit your taste. The sashimi cuts - sake, hamachi, and maguro - while on the thin side, were fresh, the rice warm with just the right amount of vinegar."
Sushi Easy opened as the successor to the beloved We Be Sushi mini-chain after the Valencia location closed following 30 years of operation. Former We Be employees now operate Sushi Easy, maintaining the affordable sushi tradition while renovating the space with whimsical fish-themed wall décor. The menu features fresh ingredients and creative preparations, including soft-shelled crab appetizers, spicy scallop rolls, specialty rolls like the Red Queen with shrimp tempura, and a deconstructed Shari Sashimi platter allowing customizable assembly. Dishes demonstrate quality ingredients and thoughtful execution, with complimentary miso soup and crispy nori sheets enhancing the dining experience.
