Beloved San Francisco punk bar Thee Parkside to close
"For years, Thee Parkside has served a cross section of San Francisco's subcultures, hosting punk shows, motorcycle meetups and karaoke nights. It's one of a handful of the city's small, independent venues, and cherished by the local music scene. On a typical night, a mix of young and older patrons gather in the bar's patio area, downing beers and chatting over bar food."
"For months, the bar's future has been uncertain. The previous owner of the building housing Thee Parkside, Maria Gloria Rando, died last year. The bar's owner, Malia Spanyol, had first rights to buy the building, but was outbid by a developer who offered nearly $1.33 million. In August of 2025, she told Mission Local that she was worried the bar would have "no future" under its new owner, who she feared would demolish the building."
Thee Parkside announced its impending closure via Instagram and showed photos and video of its patio wall spray-painted "This will be condos you can't afford!"
