Isai Nicodemo Rodas, a member of the San Rafael Board of Education, was arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student while working as a paraeducator. The arrest occurred shortly after his election in December. Superintendent Carmen Diaz Ghysels announced that Rodas would be suspended from board duties during the ongoing investigation. Allegations suggest multiple incidents of inappropriate conduct took place off campus. Marin County education officials are taking steps to strengthen child protection measures and are providing counseling services at schools affected by these allegations.
Investigators believe that he was involved in at least three incidents of sexual assault that happened off campus. Rodas' work with the county education office ended last year.
