Santos Ramos died from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease on January 20, 2024, leaving his widow Virginia and two children. The family paid Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service $4,131 for funeral and embalming services. When the body arrived in Mexico on March 24, 2024, for the funeral, the family discovered it in a state of advanced decomposition with visible deterioration and liquid discharge from the facial area. The receiving funeral home in Mexico reported the embalming was performed in terrible quality. The widow and two children filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on March 9, alleging the mortuary deprived them of a meaningful final farewell. The funeral home disputes the allegations and intends to defend itself vigorously.
