Student charged in Danvers murder allegedly told police he 'wanted to kill someone for a long time'
"As the investigation unfolded, DeMayo informed Lynn Officers that he had killed a woman in Danvers the night before. A red brown stain consistent with blood was also observed to be on the knife in his possession."
"He allegedly told them that he planned on committing this act for a long time, and wanted to kill someone for a long time. He also told the investigators that he drove around surrounding communities before stopping in front of a home under construction in Danvers."
"Investigators had found no apparent connection between DeMayo and Swallow and believe the attack was random."
Anthony DeMayo, an 18-year-old high school senior, faces murder and home invasion charges in connection with the death of 68-year-old Janet Swallow. Swallow was found dead in her Danvers home on Thursday afternoon. Police encountered DeMayo later that day in Lynn carrying a knife with blood on it. According to court documents, DeMayo confessed to killing Swallow while being questioned by police. Investigators found no apparent connection between DeMayo and Swallow, indicating the attack was random. DeMayo allegedly told investigators he had planned to commit this act and wanted to kill someone for a long time. He stated he drove around communities before breaking into Swallow's home. DeMayo was taken to Salem Hospital for psychiatric evaluation before appearing in court.
