Silver Spring home melds art and history, for $2.4 million
Briefly

Stanley Asrael's journey of home renovation reflects a lifelong commitment to creativity and resilience. Purchasing a Tudor-style home in 1962, he and his late wife, Evelyn, transformed the space with modern features while honoring its historical significance. The transformation included massive atrium windows and commissioned artworks. At 101, Asrael highlights the importance of every part of his home, even creating unique elements like stainless-steel handrails and a glass tube elevator, inviting new homeowners to personalize aspects like the kitchen.
"It's really one of a kind. My wife was the one with the vision, but along the way I became invested in it as well," said Asrael.
Asrael took the Latin inscription carved above the front door to heart: "Cedere Numquam," or never give up.
