Colton McKivitz's offseason training in San Francisco has proven to enhance his physical and mental conditioning as he prepares for his third season as the 49ers' starting right tackle. Running challenging hills on Vallejo and Kearney streets has not only built his fitness but has also fostered a mindset of perseverance. He gained muscle, reduced body fat, and reported improvements in his stamina and agility. Training alongside locals and his personal trainer contributed to a transformative summer experience, preparing him well for the contract year ahead.
A lot of it was mental, and just seeing how far you're going to push yourself, because by running Vallejo and Kearney, nothing is going to be as hard physically on the football field as that.
I'm definitely not as winded. I feel in a lot better shape, said McKivitz, who's delivered impressive one-on-one reps against defensive ends Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams.
