Animal Spirits Inhabit Plaza de Cesar Chavez

Large-scale alebrijes, colorful Mexican folk art sculptures, will be exhibited in San Jose’s Plaza de Cesar Chavez until September 28 for the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest. Additional activities include Ritmo y Colores festival featuring a procession and live music on September 6, outdoor movie nights, and a glass-blowing demo on September 8. The event will conclude on September 28 with a celebration featuring the Afro-Latin band La Misa Negra, making it a vibrant cultural experience during the summer.
Alebrijes are colorful, fantastical creatures in Mexican folk art, often made from papier-mâché or wood, and will be featured in a touring exhibit in San Jose.
The monumental alebrijes will be on display in Plaza de Cesar Chavez until September 28, coinciding with the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest.
