""He's very happy as you can see," Cal Academy of Sciences Communications Director Jeanette Peach said. "So, we don't know the lifespan for an alligator with albinism. We don't know if it's different from a regular alligator. But, we're finding out. so, he's maybe middle aged today. It's a milestone regardless.""
"The party was held outside his habitat and Claude was given a special fish cake that biologists made for him and he thanked them by taking a big chomp."
"On Monday, a special story time celebrated his "Hatch Day" at the San Francisco Public Library at 10:30 a.m. A mascot Claude was there for photo ops."
Claude the albino alligator reached his 30th birthday milestone at the California Academy of Sciences with an early public celebration. Museum-goers sang Happy Birthday and biologists presented a special fish cake that Claude accepted with a big chomp. Visitors also received cupcakes during the festivities. The lifespan of an alligator with albinism remains unknown and may differ from regular alligators, so Claude's age could be middle-aged rather than elderly. A separate Hatch Day story time at the San Francisco Public Library included a mascot Claude for photo opportunities.
