""Anytime violence takes a life, it leaves pain that is hard to put into words," he said."
""Many of our officers haven't slept in a couple days," Maguire said. "They worked around the clock. A father walked with his son after pickup from Commodore Sloat Elementary School when the father was stabbed at a busy intersection near Junipero Serra Boulevard and Ocean Avenue. Officers responded around 4:38 p.m. and found the man with a life-threatening wound; first responders and hospital staff attempted to save him but he later died from his injuries. Police identified Daniel Patrick Rodriguez Jr., 42, as a suspect and located him in Tuolumne County, where he was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. More than 60 officers were deployed during the two-day search, and officials described the killing as horrific and not random.
