"ABOUT SUNDOWN CINEMA: The San Francisco Standard is pleased to announce the return of Sundown Cinema, a free outdoor movie series spread across iconic San Francisco parks. Sundown Cinema, beloved since 2003, paused in early 2025 after its sponsor closed due to financial issues. The Standard decided we just couldn't let this tradition disappear - especially when the city is so very back, baby. So we're relaunching Sundown Cinema."
Sundown Cinema will screen Edward Scissorhands on Thursday, October 23 at the Presidio Civil War Parade Ground (34 Graham Street, San Francisco). The event opens at 5pm and the film begins after sunset (around 7pm). Admission is free and open to all, and RSVPing offers a chance to win special access to a reserved seating section. Guests are encouraged to walk, bicycle, or use public transit, and to bring blankets and warm clothes because evenings can get chilly. Attendees must leave alcohol and weapons at home and are expected to pack out what they pack in. Sundown Cinema, beloved since 2003, paused in early 2025 after its sponsor closed and is now being relaunched with curated films, food trucks, and more across city parks.
