"They're utilizing technology. They're finding ways to continue to commit their crimes. We adapt also, and we will continue to adapt in a very iterative process. "From January 1 to February 23, 2025, Oakland had 16 homicides. Flock cameras were used in five of those cases. This led to three arrests. Flock camera technology has become instrumental in solving serious crimes, providing crucial evidence that directly leads to suspect identification and arrests in homicide investigations."
A coordinated effort involving the San Francisco Police Department, FBI, and ATF resulted in the arrest of four suspects—Cory Turner, Shaquille de Metz, Philip Steward, and Jared Oliver—connected to a September 7, 2023 drive-by shooting at Alice Griffith Housing Development in Bayview that wounded one man. ATF surveillance cameras recorded the suspects leaving an Oakland home approximately one hour before the shooting. Law enforcement agencies utilized advanced technology, including Flock cameras, to track suspects and gather evidence. Flock cameras have proven effective in reducing crime, contributing to a 41% reduction in auto thefts in San Francisco and assisting in five homicide investigations in Oakland from January to February 2025, resulting in three arrests. The suspects had associations with three different gangs.
