"This is extremely disheartening and another blow to the Bayview community,"
"Our office will be working diligently with the Office of Economic and Workforce Development to bring back grocery and pharmacy services to this location. We have done it before and will be working tirelessly to do it again."
"Bayview families should not have to leave their neighborhood for groc"
The Lucky supermarket at Bayview Plaza in San Francisco will close on Nov. 1 after three years of operation, removing one of the neighborhood's limited full-service grocery options. The store at 3801 Third St. occupied 9,549 square feet and had replaced a Walgreens that closed in 2019. District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton called the closure disheartening and pledged to work with economic and workforce development offices to restore grocery and pharmacy services. Remaining full-service options include Mi Rancho Supermarket, Grocery Outlet, and Foods Co., though Grocery Outlet and Foods Co. reportedly do not fully meet local needs for fresh produce and ingredient variety.
