An elevator in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood dropped three floors, injuring one person. The San Francisco Fire Department received a call at 8:44 a.m. about the incident at 1475 Vallejo St. The elevator's emergency brakes activated, causing a sudden stop that resulted in moderate to severe injuries for the adult passenger. First responders used tools to rescue the individual from the elevator cab. Although injuries from elevator drops are rare, the fire department frequently responds to calls about people trapped in elevators.
