"When the season ended, I was in a kind of tough place mentally,"
"I took a lot of time off in the woods and fishing and no phones, no social media, and that was very, very helpful. And I'm back. I'm ready. I feel good physically, feel good mentally."
Vincent Desharnais endured a turbulent season that included reaching the Stanley Cup Final with Edmonton, two trades in a five-week span, and an upper-body injury that cost him 11 games. He took extended time off in the woods and fishing, avoiding phones and social media, which he credits with helping his mental and physical recovery. Desharnais is in the second year of a two-year, $4 million contract originally with Vancouver, and was traded from Vancouver to Pittsburgh before landing in San Jose for a 2028 fifth-round pick. He found a role with the Sharks and entered the preseason feeling ready.
