San Francisco Unicorns kick off opening week with eyes on developing Bay Area cricket fanbase
Briefly

The San Francisco Unicorns cricket team celebrated their third family day at Kathleen MacDonald High School, enhancing community engagement ahead of their season opener at Oakland Coliseum. Previously, the team played matches in North Carolina and Texas, but now they can connect more intimately with their local fanbase. Unicorns CEO David White expressed excitement about the team's local games, marking a milestone after negotiating to play at the Coliseum. Unicorns captain Corey Anderson emphasized the long-standing interest for cricket in the Bay Area, highlighting this opportunity as historic for the franchise.
We've had family days in past years, but now to actually, physically play games here in front of our fan base is very exciting.
I think the Bay Area has always been a place where there has been such a thirst for cricket, and we're finally able to give them that product.
White was given a directive by Unicorns co-owners Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan last year to find a way to play at the Coliseum.
It’s going to be a bit of a historic moment. The guys are looking forward to playing at the Coliseum.
