The San Francisco Giants Organization Is the New Owner of the Curran Theatre
"It's emblematic of our commitment to San Francisco, and working with the mayor and community leaders to keep San Francisco active."
"It was essential to me that [the Curran's] next stewards would ensure it remains a vibrant home for artists and audiences alike. I am so pleased that the Giants have stepped up to the plate."
The San Francisco Giants, led by Larry Baer, purchased the Curran Theatre, with BroadwaySF remaining the primary operator and lessee. The theater sold for an undisclosed sum via a joint release between the Giants and Carole Shorenstein Hays. Carole Shorenstein Hays bought the Curran in 2010, fully renovated it, and produced repertory seasons of on- and off-Broadway imports beginning in 2016 before stepping away amid a 2019 legal dispute. The Giants plan to host more concerts and live events when the venue is not booked with theatrical shows. The sale continues a long association between the Giants and the Shorenstein family.
